Dr. Ervind Bhogte is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed his Residency in General Surgery and Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

As a board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Bhogte is trained to perform everything from simple cyst removals to complex bowel resections. He is also board certified in Surgical Critical Care, which he puts to good use when serving as the on-call surgeon in the emergency department. He brings broad-based experience in treating a wide variety of general surgical conditions including the evaluation and management of benign and malignant diseases of the breast and colon; gallbladder disease, hernia treatment; and management of diseases of the gastrointestinal (digestive) tract. Dr. Bhogte has special interest in treating breast, thyroid and GI malignancies.

Dr. Bhogte sought out Calvert County in order to continue his preference for treating a broad range of patients and conditions rather than working at a larger urban hospital center where it is common for general surgeons to focus on a limited number of routine procedures. “Performing a lot of different procedures makes me a better surgeon – I see more things so I am never surprised by what I find and can react more quickly and confidently.”

Dr. Bhogte is equally skilled at using open procedures and the most advanced, minimally-invasive laparoscopic techniques. “Laparoscopic procedures offer faster recovery and less scaring for patients, so if it’s appropriate for the procedure that the patient requires, I always offer it.”
